3 reasons why Anthony Bourdain is my hero:
His writing. I came across and read Kitchen Confidential years ago. It is an honest, raw, exciting and funny memoir and reading it made me think that made we (Anthony & I) were tuned to the same frequency in life.
His passion for food & travel and how he made a living doing what he loved. One particular episode of No Reservations stands out. Bourdain in Haiti post cyclone (Katrina?) wandering broken streets and talking about Graham Greene and eating local Haitian food. I might be remembering this slightly wrong but it had a dreamy, in between kind of vibe to it.
And his sense of wonder at life and his ability to find humour... until he couldn’t anymore 🖤
